“This whole freaky facade is constructed from discarded products of American abundance. Hello my name is Julia Arredondo. I am a traveling Tejana with working-class roots who is navigating the changing landscape of creative economies within the United States.

I am originally from Corpus Christi, Texas and received my BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and my MFA from Columbia College Chicago. I’m formally trained in printmaking and specialize in artistic forms of independent publishing, having founded Vice Versa Press and Curandera Press as my entrepreneurial debuts. My practice explores alternative empowerment and reimagines business structures and spiritual philosophies as platforms for play and experimentation”

Currently, Julia is the Visiting Artist at
Illinois State University in Normal, IL until the end of April 2025. Julia is leading a six-week workshop on zine history and production.

Julia has an upcoming solo exhibition at SPACE Gallery in Portland, Maine titled Just Passing Through. The show opens on Friday May 2, 2025 through June 21, 2025.
